When visiting Alafia River State Park, be sure to bring your binoculars and your life list to enjoy excellent birding opportunities. Wading birds such as egrets and herons are commonly spotted along the river and lake shores. Keep a keen eye out for the majestic roseate spoonbills, which can sometimes be seen foraging at the water’s edge. Make sure to also watch for hawks, bald eagles, and owls soaring through the skies.
