Birding
Alafia River State Park offers excellent birding opportunities for enthusiasts. Visitors are encouraged to bring their binoculars and birding life list to fully enjoy the experience.
The park is home to a variety of wading birds such as egrets and herons that can be easily spotted along the river and lake shores. Keep an eye out for the striking roseate spoonbills, known to forage at the water’s edge in search of food. Additionally, the park is a habitat for various raptors including hawks, bald eagles, and occasionally even owls.
