Punderson Lake, located in Newbury, Ohio, has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century. The lake was formed by the damming of the Phelps Creek in 1808 to create a power source for a sawmill. Originally known as Phelps Lake, it was later named after Lemuel Punderson, a prominent landowner in the area.
