A total renovation is planned for the San Francisco Bay’s Los Vaqueros Reservoir! There will soon be a grand reopening, making Los Vaqueros Lake even bigger and more spectacular. The renovation includes a completed dam, a refilled fish population, a moved marina, and ongoing work on new fishing docks. The reservoir will have 340 acres of surface area and an extra 60,000 acre-feet of water storage when it progressively refills and reaches full capacity by spring. Given the success of this strategy in mitigating immediate challenges, the decision was made to expand the Los Vaqueros Reservoir as a strategic step towards alleviating the prolonged issues affecting the degraded San Joaquin Delta.
