Welcome to Titisee

Covering an area of 320 acres, Titisee stands as the grandest natural lake in Germany’s Black Forest. Formed by glacial moraine during the ancient ice age, it spans approximately a mile in length and half a mile in width. Titisee plunges to depths of up to 131 feet and draws its main water supply from the flowing Seebach River. Titisee’s waters flow through the Gutach River, eventually merging with the Wutach River, a tributary of the renowned Rhine River. Yet, merely describing the physical attributes of this extraordinary lake barely scratches the surface of why countless visitors flock to Titisee and the enchanting region of Baden-Wurttemberg in Germany. Situated in the “Hochschwartzwald” or southern Black Forest, Titisee is between Mount Hochfirst and the towering 4,895-foot Mount Feldberg. The surrounding mountains offer abundant opportunities for winter sports, with trails for cross-country skiing and alpine slopes to explore.
Titisee’s breezy conditions make it a haven for sailing and windsurfing throughout the year, while in winter, parts of the lake offer ideal spots for ice skating when the freeze finally sets in. Visitors can embark on boat tours to appreciate the splendor of the lake, with pedal boats also available for hire. Maintaining the water quality of Titisee is a priority. Hence, only boats with electric motors are permitted on the lake. A few designated areas around the shoreline allow for swimming while anglers revel in catching pike, perch, chub, lake trout, and rainbow trout from the lake’s waters. Titisee serves as a scenic focal point for various towns and villages, including the spa town of Titisee-Neustadt on the lake’s northern shore. The lakeside is adorned with holiday cottages and vacation rentals, complemented by various restaurants and shops to cater to guests. Titisee is conveniently located 18.6 miles east of Freiberg, offering visitors every conceivable amenity. Surrounded by the mystique of the Black Forest, Titisee beckons explorers to uncover its hidden treasures and wonders. Whether beginning or culminating a magical day, Titisee stands out as the quintessential destination in the captivating region of Baden-Wurttemberg.
