Welcome to Lake Golcuk

Lake Golcuk, in northwest Turkey near Bolu, is a popular day trip destination. Formed in 1958 by a dam, forested hills surround the 11-acre lake and are ideal for picnics, hikes, and nature walks. It’s cooler than the city in summer and covered in snow in winter. The lake is popular for weddings, picnics, and photography.
The area around the lake is a Nature Park, home to different trees and wildlife. A walking route along the lakefront offers scenic views, and there’s a ‘train’ for those who prefer to avoid walking. Pedal boats are also available for rent.
Picnic tables are provided, but not grills. Supplies can be purchased at a nearby store, and meals can be enjoyed at restaurants near the shoreline. The best time to visit is from April to October, and fall offers colorful scenery.
Other attractions, like the Seven Lakes of Yedigollar National Park and Lake Abant, exist nearby. The City of Bolu, between Ankara and Istanbul, offers modern amenities, great shopping, and dining options. Accessibility to the area is good by car and bus.
The area has various lodging options, making it suitable for year-round visits.
